Speed Firmware v0.1.2 Release Information

What is This Post About?

Vertiq is releasing a new speed firmware, v0.1.2, for our G2 production modules. This firmware does not impact customer facing features or performance, it is only to help accommodate some internal manufacturing changes. Specifically, it prevents certain manufacturing information on future batches of motors from being altered when resetting the motors to factory defaults. Existing motors in the field as of this writing (September 3, 2025) are not impacted by this manufacturing change, but this will help motors that will be manufactured in the future.

What Modules are Impacted?

All G2 production modules are impacted by this change. Specifically:

  • 40-06 370Kv, 770Kv (M34.1, M34.2, M34.3, M41.1, M41.2)

  • 40-14 400Kv (M35.1, M35.2)

  • 60-08 150Kv, 300Kv, 660Kv (M40.2, M47.1, M48.0, M48.1)

  • 81-08 G1 85Kv, 150Kv, 240Kv (M16.0, M28.0, M39.0)

  • 81-08 G2 85Kv, 140Kv, 240Kv (M16.2, M28.2, M39.2)

  • 81-17 G2 110Kv (M42.0, M42.1)

Overview of Changes

The v0.1.2 firmware is exactly the same as v0.1.1 in terms of customer facing features and bug fixes. The only change affects resetting your module to factory defaults. New updates to the module manufacturing process will begin setting additional calibration data during the manufacturing process as part of our transition to a different manufacturer. This new firmware version ensures that all of that calibration data is always retained if the module is reset to defaults by customers, so that there will not be any issues with resetting future modules to defaults.

Can I Continue Using v0.1.1? Should I Update My Firmware?

Existing modules as of the time of writing will not have any differences between v0.1.1 and v0.1.2, this will only impact modules manufactured in the future and will only matter when resetting your module to factory defaults.

We recommend transitioning to v0.1.2 instead of v0.1.1 or v0.1.0 when possible. Customers should not experience any difference in behavior when they upgrade. Using v0.1.2 will ensure that future modules will be able to reset to factory defaults without issue. Future modules that are shipped with v0.1.2 should not be downgraded to v0.1.1 or v0.1.0 to avoid any issues when resetting your motor to factory defaults.
